MOSCOW — On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. announced that in a massive break with tradition, he won’t be asking his father to increase his monthly allowance this Christmas.
“Christmas should be about love, not money. So this year, I’m asking for homemade gifts- specifically, I’d like my father to give me a pardon,” Don Jr. said in a touching Instagram post with the hashtag, #daddysboy.
Republicans like Roger Stone are hailing Don Jr. for taking “a courageous stance against materialism,” saying, “it just goes to show how much he’s grown up.”
But Democrats are saying that Don Jr.’s shameless pursuit of a pardon is “another grotesque proof that for wealthy, cheating white families, legal impunity is just another luxury item,” according to Rep. Maxine Waters.
Just weeks ago, Don Jr. was castigated in the media when emails surfaced showing that he’d repeatedly demanded that his billionaire Daddy give him more money, with Don Jr. frequently complaining that his “criminal defense fund isn’t as big as Jared’s.”
It’s unclear whether failed GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, who is pretending to be America’s President in Russia, can or will comply with his son’s request, given that President Hillary Rodham Clinton defeated him in November’s election by 3 million votes.
On the one hand, he appears to have recovered enough from a recent bout of mental illness to work. Last week, Trump starred in a commercial for Moscow Mastercard that aired on RT in which the former bankrupt said: “Presidential Pardons are priceless. For everything else, there’s corrupt money and Putin.”
In a Tweet, Trump did say that whatever he gives Don Jr., he’ll also give to his “darling son,” Jared Kushner, “and Ivanka, if she wants it. I don’t play favorites with my children who aren’t Tiffany.”
